If you’ve experienced eco-lightbulb confusion, you’ll love the GD Correspondent report from GD Sandy Holtzman in NY about a new App that helps us identify the best lightbulbs (and where to find them) for our individual needs. This led to some discussion later in the show about electricity and coal. Our Sleeping Naked is Green segment was all about community sharing, borrowing and bartering. Lots of discussion about ecovillages and other ways we can share books and everything! Our feature interview was with Philip Campbell, who is visiting Austin, TX from the UK to be at the SXSW Eco event. He gave a great report (even though the audio was pretty rough from the phone he had to borrow to be on the show with us). It’s worth listening to because he talks about his new Living Ark Project, where he will be going into the forest and living in an eco-pod with his 4-year old daughter for a year!

This topic led to discussion and information on intentional communities, freecycle, book sharing and creating community bartering systems.

Another fun episode of Sleeping Naked is Green about using wooden hangers and recycling all those wire hangers. DID YOU KNOW 3.5 MILLION HANGERS END UP IN OUR LANDFILLS EVERY YEAR! Plus a lot of facts about the environmental impact of dry cleaning and the truth about so-called green dry cleaners.

A full house with green dude Scott back in the studio. We talked more about home decorating the eco-friendly way, particularly about types of non-VOC paints for walls and furniture. Our feature interview was with Bart Potenza of Candle 79 and Candle Cafe in New York – both offering yummy vegan fare along with an increased awareness of animal rights and the work Bart has done to support Farm Sanctuaries, like the one in Watkins Glen, New York.

An interesting discussion on just how eco-friendly bamboo is or isn’t, sparked by the idea of using an eco-friendly cutting board in the kitchen. We weighed out the pros and cons.

We had fun with our all diva crew again this week – Guest Green Diva, Michele Hollow was in the studio talking about her blog Pet News & Views and how rescuing and spaying animals IS green. We also talked to our favorite foodie and green crafter Becky Striepe, who is a green blogging maven.
