What a party we had for our first broadcast from our new studio/station – WMTR 1250am (WMTRam.com). Thanks to all who made us welcome, especially our new engineer Mike. GD Lisa did some detailed product reviews on non-toxic green cleaning products and reported on the latest in sunscreens from Environmental Working Group. Our feature interview was with Gary Walker, The King of Green, who talked about his own radio show in Kansas City, MO and his green cleaning company that is using the latest in chemical-free, steam cleaning technology.

A profound show to say farewell to HomeGrownRadioNJ as we move on to our new studio digs – WMTR 1250AM in June. There was a wonderful energy in the studio, which was partly because of our in-studio guest, author Caroline Fairless, who brought a light-hearted, but powerful message about connecting the green/sustainability movement to the awesome spirit of nature. Somehow we managed to work in an LA theme from our GD Correspondent Marie, who called in with an awesome report on Bamboo textiles, and a very inspiring interview with Tod Lipka, CEO of Step up on Second, an organization dedicated to helping the over 48,000 homeless people in LA county. Step Up on Second is using green and sustainable building and living practices into all of their facilities to an award-winning degree – all while doing a great deal to help the at-risk folks who will now have healthier shelter.

Must be the spring weather, the ONGOING rain maybe, but we had another lively show. GD Heather called in with a great report from Washington, DC area, we had a visitor in the studio from Lusscroft farms to talk about the annual medicine wheel garden celebration, which is an all-weekend garden party here in northern, NJ, and finally we had a great interview with Mike Levatino, author of The Joy of Hobby Farming.

It was a rowdy show with Green Dude Scotty back in the house! We had a blast greening up the parking lot and the side of the road outside the studio before the show and during our break with a slingshot and some fun “seed bombs” sent to us by an innovative group called GreenAid. Green Diva Lisa called in from Austin, TX with some handy spring cleaning tips and ideas for vegan nut yogurt recipes. Our feature interview was not only timely, but very informative about thoughtful ‘Energy-Wise Landscape Design’ with the author of the book by that name, Susan Reed.

With a wonderful guest green diva co-host, Barbara Taylor in the studio, we had a full roster of stuff to talk about from our call from green diva Lisa in Austin, TX and the green diva correspondent report from Kimberly Phipps-Nichol in Reno, NV to our awesome interview with Rodman Schley, host of upcoming TV series, The Urban Conversion. A lot of talk about making lawns edible to chickens on the rooftop. Don’t miss this show about sustainable community, food, coops and of course, Rodman milking a goat while singing to it . . .
