The Green Divas go with the flow and do Hawai’i…
We loved our trip to Hawai’i Island, which was arranged by the Big Island Visitor’s Bureau so that we could participate in the Puna Culinary Festival and see what’s going on with sustainability on the island. Even though we didn’t get lei’d, we loved it so much that we’re planning a Green Divas retreat for late 2015/ early 2016.
So it made sense to dedicate this entire The Green Divas Radio Show episode to our adventures on Hawai’i Island. Segments include Green Divas Eco-Style, a special Green Divas myEARTH360, a Green Divas Foodie-Phile and a re-broadcast of our talk with Kalani‘s permaculture dude, Eric Ellenwood.
Listen and learn about all the sustainable efforts on Hawai’i Island, then continue on for our video recap and links to more resources…
View our fun Hawaiian adventures featuring Hawaiian Island Retreat, magical black sand beaches, Kilauea, Kalani Retreat Center, Puna Culinary Festival, Pupupalooza, and more…
Travelin’ Green Divas
In this Travelin’ Green Divas segment, we share about our adventures including our experience at two different style retreats (Hawaii Island Retreat and Kalani) adventures zip lining in Kohala, the Puna Culinary Festival, visiting an active volcano, and the beauty of the natural environment of this magical island. The best kept secret in Hawaii is Hawai’i Island.
Green Divas Eco Style
In this Green Divas Eco Style segment, we report on some of the latest eco-fashion for travel that they used for their recent Hawaiian adventures, from yoga gear and sexy bathing suits to adorable shoes—all sustainably and consciously made. For more information, read Eco Fashion in Hawaii: Grass Skirt Optional.
Green Divas Foodie-Phile
Can’t complain when you are flown to Hawaii to conduct a smoothing and juicing workshop with all organic, local and exotic fruits and veggies! On the heals of our trip to Kalani for the Puna Culinary Festival, here’s a Green Divas Foodie-Phile podcast to wet your whistle. You’ll be inspired to dust off that blender and get yourself a juicer. But wait, there’s much more in GD Lynn’s post, Smoothies vs. Juicing… Benefits + Green Divas Recipes.
Green Divas myEARTH360 Report
We learned a few cool things about Hawai’i Island, like that it derives a much higher percentage of energy from renewable resources than almost anywhere else in the US. Listen to GD Lynn’s excellent Green Divas myEARTH360 report featuring the good news about Hawaii and what we can all learn from them. Then read about Hawaii’s leadership in renewables here.
Check out our haikus inspired by our trip. P.S. We offset our trip’s carbon footprint by purchasing carbon offset credits via Terrapass.
