We often think about how the cars we drive or the electricity we use contribute to global warming.
But did you know that United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization estimates that the meat industry generates nearly one-fifth of the man-made greenhouse gas emissions that are contributing to climate change, which is actually more than the transportation sector?
Green Divas (and Dudes) for Meatless Monday!
As the staff RD for Meatless Monday, a non-profit public health marketing initiative, I’m excited to be partnering with The Green Divas to help spread the word about the how cutting out meat one day a week can benefit both the environment and your personal health. Be on the lookout for future blog posts and Foodie-Phile segments on simple ways to go meatless.
And with Earth Day on the horizon next week, right now is the perfect time come on board with the movement.
Pledge to go meatless on the Monday before Earth Day (and beyond!) by joining the Meatless Monday Thunderclap.
By signing up, you’ll join other Meatless Monday supporters in sharing a communal message about your participation in Meatless Monday across your social media channels on Monday, April 21st. Click here to sign up.
To learn more about the movement, visit MeatlessMonday.com, check out the Green Divas’ past Meatless Monday recipes, and view What You Can Do’s Meatless Monday Earth Day 2014 video.
