Green Diva Healthy Detox: With a Little Help From my Friends

3 20

I posted about the first 2 days of my Kaeng Reang 3-day healthy detox earlier in the week. I started the week out by drinking the smoothies in my Ringo Starr glass – I have a collection of Beatles glasses that I LOVE. Please check out the first post (it’s a quick read. go ahead, we’ll be right here when you get back).

Note that Ringo’s face is a big solemn and not entirely cheery. So, I woke up day 3 and realized I needed to switch over to George Harrison, because he looks so happy. I drank my smoothies out of George all that last day and we did good!

Post-detox observations . . .

1. The Kaeng Raeng program encourages you to use a lot of fresh fruits and veggies, so I noticed I was overrun with compost food scraps after three days!

2. I lost 4 pounds! Yea!

3. I felt very energized, clear-headed and generally good.

4. I really didn’t want to eat anything and break the spell and decided to drink tea and a lot of water to continue to flush out anything that was stirred up by the detox.

5. Keeping a sense of humor helps.

6. The Beatles always help.

7. The people close to me that knew I was doing this were VERY supportive and encouraging – special props to the husband (Wayne Bouchard), who stayed out and ate all of his meals out for 3 days and didn’t take it personally when I was VERY grumpy on day 1!

I used to do some type of natural detox every few months and have gotten away from doing it. I think I need to make this a more regular practice. I’ll keep you posted on that one!

eat. blog. be merry!

A Fierce Green Fire

Spanning 50 years of grassroots and global activism, this Sundance documentary brings to light the vital stories of the environmental movement where people fought – and succeeded – against enormous odds. From halting dams in the Grand Canyon to fighting toxic waste at Love Canal; from Greenpeace to Chico Mendes; from climate change to the promise of transforming our civilization, A Fierce Green Fire is “nothing less than the history of environmentalism itself.” (Los Angeles Times). Official Selection Sundance Film Festival.

Occupy Love

Join acclaimed director Velcrow Ripper (Scared Sacred, Fierce Light) on a journey deep inside the revolution of the heart that is erupting around the planet, as he asks the question, “How could the crisis we are facing become a love story?”

Occupy Love explores the growing realization that the dominant system of power is failing to provide us with health, happiness or meaning. The old paradigm that concentrates wealth, founded on the greed of the few, is causing economic and ecological collapse. The resulting crisis has become the catalyst for a profound awakening:  millions of people are deciding that enough is enough –  the time has come to create a new world, a world that works for all life.

The film connects the dots in this era of rapidly evolving social change, featuring captivating insider scenes from the Egyptian Revolution, the Indignado uprising in Spain, Occupy Wall Street in New York, the environmental movement and beyond. Woven throughout the action oriented backbone of the film is a deep exploration of public love, and compelling stories of an emerging new paradigm. It features some of the world’s key visionaries on alternative systems of economics, sustainability, and empathy, including Naomi Klein, Bill McKibben, Jeremy Rifkin, and bell hooks.

Occupy Love is a moving, transformative, heartfelt film, featuring Ripper’s signature stunning visuals and rich soundscapes. A powerful cinematic experience leaves viewers inspired.
