Online shopping has become an almost essential modern convenience, especially during the recent pandemic time. But, even us Green Diva have to take a hard look at how all this shipping and packaging is impacting the environment and ultimately climate change. yikes.
So, is it more eco-friendly to order online? The answer isn’t entirely clear — sometimes yes, sometimes no. Hmmmm. But there are some ways you can minimize your shopping impact.
Of course, with the holidays coming (black Friday, ugh.), we like to revert to our GD holiday motto: Buy less, make more and when you HAVE to buy, try shopping local and always look for sustainably made products with the least amount of dreaded packaging.

CORRECTION: Green Diva Lynn mentioned that some 3 billion trees are pulverized every year just for cardboard boxes. That figure is actually related to all paper packaging and equates to 241 million tons of shipping cartons, cardboard mailers, void-fill wrappers, and other paper-based packaging, according to forest conservation group Canopy.
