Ian Mellencamp is in Farm Aid 30 line up Saturday, September 19th in Chicago.
We were so excited to have Ian Mellencamp call in to The Green Divas Radio Show (lucky Green Diva Meg) to talk about Farm Aid and some other worthwhile stuff he’s got going on. Listen here, then continue on for more info about Farm Aid (I’ll be attending, so be on the look out for me in my Green Divas tee shirt—potentially covered by a sweatshirt—and cowboy hat!)…
Celebrate Farm Aid 30
Neil Young, Willie Nelson and John Mellencamp (pictured above with Dave Matthews) organized the first Farm Aid concert in 1985—30 years ago!—to raise awareness about the loss of family farms and to raise funds to keep farm families on the land. Dave Matthews joined the Farm Aid Board of Directors in 2001.
Farm Aid is a nonprofit organization and has raised $48 million to promote a strong and resilient family farm system of agriculture. Their mission is to keep family farmers on the land.
Hope I have the stamina to make it through all the fantastic musicians at Farm Aid 30. Here’s the line-up…
Farm Aid 30 isn’t just a music festival—it’s a foodie fest with eats from local, organic family farms.
If you go, not only will you get an earful of great music spanning a variety of genres, you’ll get a chance to meet farmers, possibly get your hands dirty and learn about the ways family farmers are enriching our soil, protecting our water and growing our economy.
Farm Aid 30 is a great way to show your gratitude to these family farmers who grow real food for us. Not that GMO crap.
Family farmers should always be on our mind. Willie Nelson couldn’t have said sang it better…
Now a taste of Ian’s music…
