Gracie and I (and GD Mizar and hubby Wayne) finally got to play in the Nissan Leaf.
Watch this fun video of the Green Divas playing with the Nissan Leaf . . .
I’ve been test driving a lot of plugin hybrids and EVs lately and I have to say I don’t miss gas stations one bit!
As a matter of fact, it is almost exactly a year since super storm Sandy totaled two of my cars. Well, the tree Sandy knocked down did the damage, but the fact is, my husband and I decided to share a car for a year, and as it turns out, I’ve been doing week-long (sometimes more) drives to test and write about some great cars and most of them have been plugin hybrids and these last two have been ALL electric.
I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t expect it to have as many of the cool bells and whistles I’ve become accustomed to . . . like seat heaters for those cold winter months (such a Green Diva, right?).
8 things to love about the Nissan Leaf
1. It is a full production model, meaning it is available ALL over the U.S., not just in California!
2. Neat pack that holds the charging cable.
3. Seat heaters and other fun features/upgrades – Thank you solar panel!
5. Reasonably priced starting @ $21,300 (after $7500 Federal rebate – they have a great interactive page that helps you find out what incentives for EV buyers might be available in your State)
6. Never going to the gas station!
7. Very cool back-up camera – shows car on ALL sides (was a little creepy at first – thought it was an NSA image from above, but it is not. phew).
8. Your dog will love it 😉

@James P. – it really depends on your driving habits. I do very well with an all EV with the range of the Leaf because the GD studio is in my home and my husband has a Lexus Hybrid vehicle, so for those times I need to travel out of range, we have a car for that. do you have another car in the household? i like the leaf and prefer the all EV as well.

Very well designed car. Owner of a 2013 Leaf. Best car I’ve ever owned. I make very few trips outside the Leaf’s 75-120 mile range so it’s perfect for anyone with a 35 mile or less commute. I would add #9: no noisy engine to drown out radio #10: smoothest ride ever. #11: No oil changes!
