Save Trees in the Midst of Handwashing Mania!

Thursday, November 12th, 2009

PeopleTowels

If you are like so many who are trying to avoid the swine or ANY flu this season, you may be on a handwashing frenzy. I find myself feeling terrible about using so many paper towels in my increased number of hand washing adventures in public bathrooms.

Mary Wallace and Linda Lannon have devised a simple and great solution – PeopleTowels! These little 100% organic cotton AND fair trade produced personal hand towels are a wonderful and sustainable way to save trees AND water while drying your hands in public places.

With great hang-tags for easy attachment to purse, backpack or belt, these little beauties are washable and built to last – and they come in 6 different cool designs. I’m partial to the one above!

In addition to playing some musical requests from some of our favorite listeners, we’ll be talking to Linda Lannon on the show tonight, so please tune in!

ExperienceProject.com and Haagen Daz Help Save the Bees

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

ExperProjHD

The Green Divas will speak to Jake Wall of ExperienceProject.com, a ‘passion-based’ network that calls itself the largest living collection of shared experiences in the world. The ExperienceProject.com teamed up recently with Haagen Daz (yes, those crazy delicious ice cream makers) to help the honey bees. They helped raise awareness about the plight of honey bees, who have been dying off in record numbers. The effect on our agriculture system is devastating.  (read more about this on Green Diva Meg’s post, The Buzz with Honey Bees)

Tune in tonight to catch up with the Green Divas, learn about how to help the honey bees and the social experiment network experienceproject.com.

Eco-Luxury with Bradford Rand Tonight

Thursday, September 17th, 2009
Bradford Rand and Ed Begley, Jr.

Bradford Rand and Ed Begley, Jr.

The Green Divas have a great show planned for tonight. Don’t miss our interview with Bradford Rand, President/CEO of Go Green Expo and the producer of the upcoming Eco Luxury press event in NY next week. The Green Divas will be covering that event, so be sure to tune in next week for the details on that . . .

Bradford and his talented team have produced over 700 trade shows, job fairs and special events over the last 15 years spanning a multitude of industries. His philanthropic charity events include the Red Cross Benefit & City Harvest; an organization that feeds the hungry of New York. He, like many others were inspired by Al Gore’s Inconvenient Truth and realize in his home city of Manhattan there was no event to showcase earth-friendly products & services. Thus, Go Green Expo was born and in April of 2008, the inaugural show featured 250+ exhibits, 50+ speakers, an eco-film festival and nearly 10,000 participants.

So, tune in and turn on a friend . . .

Songwriter Leo Schaff LIVE on Green Divas Radio to Promote 9/11 Musical Event

Thursday, September 10th, 2009
September Concert Logo
“After silence, that which comes nearest
to expressing the inexpressible is music.”

Inspired by these words of Aldous Huxley, The September Concert Foundation was born in 2002 on the first anniversary of 9/11. Since then, on each anniversary this message of peace through music has spread further and further.

In 2008, 222 concerts were organized throughout the world. This year there will be close to 10,000 performers. 46 US cities from coast to coast joined the cause,  including Oakland, Philadelphia, Santa Barbara, Forth Worth, Seattle, and Washington D.C.

On Friday, September 11, 2009, across America and around the world, the skies will come alive with music as The September Concert Foundation organizes its eighth annual global day of music for peace. On that day professional and amateur musicians will perform classical music, jazz, rock & roll – all kinds of music in all kinds of venues – from parks and squares, schools, libraries, churches, office building lobbies and plazas to cafés, stores and senior centers.

All concerts adhere to three basic principles:

  • Freedom: All venues and musicians are free to design and organize their own concerts.
  • Equality:  All music and all musicians are treated equally, regardless of gender or background.
  • Accessibility: All music is offered free of charge.

For more information about the event go to www.septemberconcerts.org To learn more about Leo Schaff go to:    www.myspace.com/leosongs.

Tonight Leo Schaff, co-writer (along with Jim Papoulis and Regine Urbach) of one of the songs to be performed throughout the world Give Us Hope,  joins The Green Divas LIVE in the studio to perform and talk about this great event.  Don’t miss tonight’s magical show!

Being Cheap is Green

Thursday, August 27th, 2009

cheapskatebook1On tonight’s Green Divas radio show, the green divas will be talking to Jeff Yeager, also knows as ‘the Ultimate Cheapskate’.  You may have seen Jeff on NBC’s Today show or read his wonderful book, The Ultimate Cheapskate’s Road Map to True Riches.

We met Mr. Cheapskate down in DC, while sponsoring and playing at the GreenFest back in 2007. He stopped by our booth to talk about how being cheap is green. We loved him, have been corresponding with him since then, and have gotten his book, which is as funny as it is informative.

We were glad to schedule Jeff as he is a very busy cheapskate right now.

Should be an exciting and interesting night with the green divas and Scott Rousseau our resident Green ‘Dude’. So, tune and turn on a friend!

slowfoodnj1

Margaret Noon of Slow Food New Jersey will be in the studio tonight to talk about this weekend’s farm-to-table event, called Sustenance on the Farm, @ Starbright Farm in Andover, New Jersey. These delicious, informative and wonderfully social events are inspired to help engage people in greater understanding of the important role local farms play in the community and to have a connection to their neighborly farmers.

As it turns out Jen and I share a CSA share from Starbright Farm’s CSA program and get farmer John Krueger’s weekly newsletters on how things are going on the farm. While he is extremely busy getting ready for this weekend’s event, he might just take some time out to come to the studio and talk with us tonight . . . you’ll have to tune in to find out!

John Krueger will host and chef Andrea Carbine, a James Beard Award semi-finalist and co-owner of A Toute Heure in Cranford,NJ will prepare an elegant farm-to-table five-course dinner centered around Starbrite Farm’s organic and heirloom vegetables, as well as grass-fed meat and poultry from a nearby farm. Dessert will be prepared by Chef Diane Pinder of Donna & Company Artisan Chocolates – yum.

Proceeds from the event will go to Slow Food New Jersey’s earth stewardship and food justice programs.

The event is scheduled for this Sunday, August 23 from 4 – 7pm. Visit the event website to get all the details. Hope to see you there!

or you can tune in tonight and hear all about it!
