Going Plastic-Free Like a Green Diva

Recycle sphere

The folks at Rodale.com have declared this month, Plastic-Free February, and the adventurous editors  have invited me to take the challenge - I’m in!

I’m naturally inclined to avoid plastic. I store my food in glass containers, mostly remember to bring my re-usable bags to the grocery store, and I have my trusty BPA-Free, stainless water bottle at hand and don’t use plastic water bottles unless desperate.

My biggest challenge will be to not purchase anything with plastic – packaging is like a plastic variety show. I miss having a health food store or food coop where I can shop and use my own containers for refills of grains, honey, oil, soap, whatever.

The weather here is pretty funky, so I suspect I’ll be safe from buying any new plastic for at least a day!

Stay tuned for updates throughout the month.
